Rotting in jail?

What’s to say about life imprisonment, except for the fact that it’s one way to ensure that re-offenders never offend again? Life imprisonment has been the morsel of choice for people who do not subscribe to the notion that human beings should be put down like dogs.
While obviously you can tell I’m not for it; I can understand why there are good reasons for life imprisonment as punishment. The choice comes down to whether you’re pro-life or pro-death.

A rock and a hard place

I am a fierce advocate of the death penalty for repeat pedophiles, because to me it is the only feasible punishment for destroying an innocent.

On the other hand I can see where life imprisonment for repeat offenders is the more workable solution in our current society, considering the fact that the justicesystem does not always get it right. After all, who could forget the whole prosecution debacle of the “Kern County child abuse cases” in the States?

Have a think about this

In Islamic countries; before their religious laws got westernized; thieves used to have their hands cut of as punishment. And before you throw your hands in the air with an outraged cry, there are laws and conditions regulating the handing out of this punishment.
What I’m trying to get you to think about here is the fact that with this punishment in place, thievery levels went down noticeably.

Now, how about you mull over this concept in your head, but this time apply it to repeat offenders. Any thoughts?

Made up your mind yet?

Maybe, as a way to ease your future conscience, you would decide to go with life imprisonment instead of capital punishment. At least I hope, that is only until the justice system manages to pull it socks up and get it right. Mandatory DNA testing and no more hiding behind privacy laws. Wouldn’t that be something to see?

Just imagine, we live in a world where the justice system is just. First time offenders get heavily punished and 2nd offenders receive the death penalty automatically.
The theory about them being born that way and how they can’t help their actions; would not even have to be an issue. Don’t you think that that would be a great incentive for all of those pedophiles out there to curb their unnatural desires; even if it’s natural to them? For in spite of everything, they have visited a heinous crime on an innocent that does not have the mental capability to consent.
